Memorial Day

Couldn't resist another picture of the flag flying from my front porch. This time it's a view from my rocking chair. What an old lady I am turning out to be! Speaking of which, went to church this morning. It was nice to have a nice quiet peaceful beginning to my day.

Yesterday I didn't install the peg board (I am hoping to do it today), but instead hopped on my bike and rode down to the lake and around, it was a nice 12 mile ride. Took a nice freezing swim - I managed to swim for a half hour - and then sat on the beach for a while and read. Also ran into an old AA friend, it was nice to chat with her. Even though it is slightly embarrassing to be there at the "beach" in my tri suit, as opposed to regular sunning wear. It was good to get in my first open water swim of the season. It sure is different than swimming laps in a pool!

Yesterday was the first Sunday that I have not heard from my son since his deployment. He has been telling me every week that I may not hear for him for a while because he is going here and there and working 7 days a week. But this is the first time he didn't call. I sure do miss him.

Your view is breath taking. There is life all around your porch. Hopefully you will get a ring from your son soon, when you least expect it perhaps.

Have a beautiful day.

I love hearing about your day on your bike and going for an ice cold swim! You just seem so ready to take what beauty and simplicity you can from each day Mary Christine.
Your son will call you as soon as he can too if he knows his Mom,
he will know you are waiting :)
I am waiting for my son to call too but he is not in another country he is just being a little turkey right now.I always believe in timing.
Thanks for sharing you lovely lady!
ps.Cracked up when you spoke of your embarrassment over your bathing suit...lol...I know what you mean, I need to pick up something a little more flattering for the lake this year :).....you too?

sounds like a positively wonderful day you've ahd today, with the exception of your son not calling, and the worry you must be feeling. HP will take care of him.. you and your family are in my prayers.... thank you and thank your son for your sacrifice, that I might have the freedom to live how i see fit, write what I see fit, and worship Whom I see fit... Thank you, thank you, thank you, it's worth it!

You inspired me to raise my flag on my blog. I love the view from your porch. That is a goal of ours. To have a front porch put on full across the house.

I can dream for now. :)

Hope your Memorial Day was great.

He will call as soon as he can. The flag looks great from that direction as well. Now the rocking chair isn't just for old people, I am getting wore out though with all the exercise you are getting in. So why isn't a tri suit as flattering as sunning wear?

Just think you could have had coffee with me and dinner with dAAve if you would have driven fast this weekend.

Yeah, I could have done that on friday night and then been back here for the boxer party on the front porch on saturday. Fun weekend (in my dreams!)

Did you look at the link for the tri suit? It might look nice on someone who weighs 35 lbs., but I weigh considerably more than that!

I love the view from your front porch. I'd sit on the swing and knit. It's no wonder my friends tease me about being an old lady.

I hope you hear from your son soon.

Sounds like you're making great progress on the triathalon (sp?)stuff. Keep up the hard work!
