Sunday Morning

It is raining and 50º outside.  I stopped at the store on my way home from church and bought the stuff to make chili.  It is now cooking.  I need to go to the hospital and do some chart audits for a few hours.  When I get home I will plant myself on the sofa and watch a Broncos game.   I am just done canning peaches.  I still have some left, but cannot muster the strength to peel one more peach.  I feel wasteful, but I have only so much energy and so much time...

So much comfort when so many people are suffering.  How I wish I could do something for my friends (and family) in Texas.  I keep checking their blogs, hoping for an update.  I pray their electricity is back on soon and they can carry on with their lives.

And I don't even worry that any of my sober friends got drunk.  I hope they had some fellowship to comfort them and that maybe they could get to a meeting or two.  But even in the absence of fellowship or meetings, we tend to stay sober in the crises of life.  Thank God.

3:32 PM MDT Update:  Scott W. just called from Waco.  He is safe and sound and comfortable there, waiting for the power to be restored to his home in Houston before he returns.  He thanks everyone for their prayers and sends his love.

strange how the major crisis' keep us sober, and the daily living has the potential to knock us over...

My mother lives 100 miles north of Houston, and she does not have power. It is hot & humid, very uncomfortable. The problem is widespread.

For years I've heard that: It's the 'little' things which gnaw at me, like a tiny piece of sand in my shoe, or my eye...

Oh, 50 degrees outside - sounds like heaven to me. I'm a little tired of 90.

But.....I'm grateful for so many things that I won't allow a little heat to bother me. Besides, I have A/C and the poor folks in Texas are having to do without A/C or anything else that depends on electricity. God bless them and I pray for a speedy restoration of things lost.

Chili sounds good. I love it.

Thank God we have learned a way of life that sees us through anything that may happen.

Enjoy your Bronco's! Have you heard from Pam anymore? When I was at the grocery store today I was talking with a lady that lives within a mile of Pam's neigborhood and they had just gotten power. I'm sure hoping Pam has it by now. I don't know what I did with her phone number so I haven't been able to call or text but if you talk with her, please let her know I have power and they can stay with me. Thanks so much for all you do!

I've heard before how we are able to deal with the big stuff it's the small stuff that gets us.

It sounds like you need to take a break. But you are a peach.
