Uh-oh

I lost even more money yesterday.  Suddenly I am so happy that I have 10 more years to work before I need to retire.  Last week I was so unhappy that I needed to work for another 10 years before I could retire.  Weird the way things change.

I spoke with my sponsor yesterday and she suggested I go to meetings to see what I can bring to the meeting instead of what I can take away.  Darn it!  I knew that!  She does understand what I am complaining about but says I have no other choice but to persevere.  I knew that.

I went to a noon meeting yesterday.  The good part?  That a handsome young man I know from other meetings came in, joyous at seeing me, he ran across the room, kissed and hugged me. Yes, that was nice.  The bad part?  The rest of the meeting.  Oh well.  I caused a bit of a flap when I said I thought people who go in and out and drink when the rubber hits the road are "a dime a dozen," and I really don't care what they say.  Oh, that was kind of fun.

I am going to go run this morning and then go in for a long day of work.  I canceled every single after work activity this week.  I am simply working too hard trying to meet my Friday deadline to do anything after the work day is over.  Of course, yesterday it didn't end until 10 p.m.  And after Friday?  At least this deadline will be over and I will not have to read or write anything about suicide for a while.

Lets be kind to one another today, OK?
"Let brotherly love continue.  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."  Hebrews 13:1-2

I am glad you are thinking of yourself and canceled some of your after work activities. Take Care of Mary!

It's wonderful to follow your daily thoughts and meeting meanderings. I, too, wish it were a perfect AA world, but it is and will ever be--no more than prefekt. Until the end of 'time', as we conceive it.

You may recall, I wrote a comment on your blog (yesterday) that I fervently believe the Traditions will 'save' us and our 'AA way of life' IF we fight to preserve them.

Glad you are staying busy. Glad you are blogging, otherwise I might not have found this beautiful place, about the 1st of July, 2008. Gratefully,

I'm going to retire in 16 months since I already signed up to do so. I may be cycling rather than driving a car and not have any extra money but it will all work out. I think a lot about what I want and what I actually need. Basically I don't need much.

I hear ya, girl. We stopped looking at our portfolio for now...it's counterproductive. Not that we have soooo much, but enough that it hurts to watch it fade away into the ether.

Had to laugh...I said the same thing to someone at a meeting not long ago. Was met by shocked looks and grumbles. But you know, if you don't want this--who cares? Go drink some more. Have a ball. All I know is that I have to stay sober today...anyone else can go do anything they want.

You're in my thoughts. (((hugs)))

Hey, you don't suppose we are becoming like those "older women" who just go around willy nilly saying what they think do you?
Hmmm let's just try that on for awhile and see how it fits. I'm game if you are sista!

Are you and Pam going to start wearing red hats and purple dresses??

I had a long comment written to you yesterday because I loved your post, especially about getting slips signed at the beginning, but then my boss walked in and I lost it.... At our morning meeting someone complained about the language so we read this friendly reminder now..to which most of the group responds with a "What the F*ck".

Today I am leaning heavily on "This too shall pass". Again.
