LIving in the World

I'm coat-tailing on Pammie again.  She wrote about not writing about stuff this morning.  Last night we had an e-mail exchange about this very thing.

I was watching the debate, with my laptop in front of me, watching what was happening on the blogs (political blogs) as well as what was on the TV.  That was fun, and although I think as sober people we are supposed to be citizens again and pay attention and participate, I won't subject you to my opinions here.  10th tradition, you know.  And yes, like Pam, I do have opinions.  They are informed opinions.  I do not just spout off crap that I think sounds good.  And my opinions usually are counter to just about everyone else I know, so I know I am not just trying to fit in.

There has been a bunch of "stuff" going on in my life that I will no longer write about here.  I used to write about it, but then I would have people "drop in" and blast me in the comments.  Not knowing the first thing about me or what was going on.  Alcoholics love to bombard each other with meaningless and unsolicited advice.  And in case you think I might be speaking about you, if you are a regular reader I am not.  I have gotten rid of all but one of those readers.
I went to the public library last week for the first time in 15 years?  Now instead of lots of good books, there are a few shelves of books and a huge bank of computers.  There was a slight waft of body odor as I walked by.  There were lots of backpacks and grimy clothes and people furiously pounding keyboards.  I imagined a similar library, on the other side of our planet, with a poor, mentally ill person who doesn't even know his name, sitting in a library, pounding a keyboard, reading my blog, and sending me comment after comment after comment telling me I am going to hell.

The world has really changed.  I participate in the changes I like.  I like this blog, or at least I used to.  But I don't like that someone half a world away can take my pictures and my writing and pervert it and blast it all over the place.  I recently checked out all the links in the world to my blog.  I was amazed to see that this person is high on the list of referrers to my blog.  I was also amazed to see that there is a porn blog that has photos of porn, with my writing.   Maybe our friend should target that blog instead of mine.

The blog of a 56 year old woman who is sober 24 years.  The blog of a practicing Roman Catholic, and that is totally inappropriate to talk about here.  The blog of a person who has a profession that I never talk about here.  The blog of a mother, grandmother, aunt, sponsor, friend, and neighbor.  Some of you do know me pretty well.  Casual readers don't.  This blog is only supposed to be a general blog about being a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous.  I don't write specifically about my religion because of the traditions of AA.  I don't write specifically about my politics because of the traditions of AA... etc., etc., etc.

I am crabby this morning.  I will go to work and after work I will go get my hair colored and cut.  And since the whole world now has this short bob, I think I shall change my 'do.  I might get it cut short since I do that every couple of years.

Have a good day everyone.

My favorite line from this post is: I participate in the changes I like.

Me too.

It's sad to me that 1 or 2 people have to ruin it for the rest of us. I wish you, me and others didn't feel like we had to hold back so much (and I'm not talking about adhering to the traditions of AA). I love reading your blog. I love hearing about your life, your experiences with AA, how you got sober, and how you stay sober. I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are an inspiration to me. You helped me start this journey. I read your blog long before I got sober and decided I wanted to what you have. I have never met you, but I will be forever grateful for all the things you have done for me and I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to meet you and thank you face to face. Big Hugs and a Huge Thank you....from the bottom of my heart.

Oh lovin' you. We are both suffering from...what is it exactly?
If you were here I would have the nerve to get my hair cut too.
Let's talk over the weekend ok?
Maybe we are taking ourselves way to serious. I'm practicing not doing that today (if I can)..it was Scotts idea-indirectly.

I hear you MC. But I like all that you share: your sobriety, your hobbies, your passion for life. It's your space to use as you like. I hope that no one will run you off or have you change what you say here.

Cut & color is my drug of choice. I love that you can get the hair wrong..who cares..just change it again.

Sorry you feel this way. There is not much one can say about anything(running in the dark, vacations to Alaska, grandkids, soup, whatever) that is not going to offend someone. I hope you continue to share.

Re: Ave Maria

Tomorrow after my early meetings I'll put up a few pictures and blog/brag about the brand new city, Ave Maria.

Yes, I've been there, it's as close to heaven as I need to get before I die.

My Dear Mary,
If you are a practicing Catholic, why aren’t you witnessing to others?

Why are you so ashamed?

Why do you delete my comments?

Can't you see how you have been indoctrinated with BUCHMANISM?

Can't you face your DEMONS, Mary - FEAR?

Do you go to AA, to medicate your feelings (FEAR, PAIN & SHAME)?

Do you go to Church out of fear - you can't have it both ways?

You have to make a choice, sAtAn or Jesus Christ?

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

John 12:32, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself." Here Jesus speaks specifically about His crucifixion.

It is He who draws to Himself all who are to be saved. When you present the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4), the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus for sins, Jesus draws the sinner to Himself. He does the work, not you.

As a Christian, you are to witness with truth, honesty, and integrity. As the Lord provides the opportunity, you should respond in a humble and gentle spirit (2 Tim. 2:24). And in that, you should point people to Jesus. It is He alone who saves.

If you know that God's Word will accomplish what God desires, that the gospel is powerful to save, and that it is Jesus who draws all men to Himself, then you should realize that the responsibility of salvation does not rest on you, but on God.

You are the teacher, the deliverer of good news. "How shall they believe in Him who they have not heard?" (Rom. 10:14). You help them hear!

These three verses should help you to gain confidence. You witness; God saves. You plant the seeds; God waters. He uses you.

It is His Word that accomplishes salvation. It is His gospel that is powerful. It is His Son Jesus who draws. You witness in power when you witness with the Word of God.

Satan (AA), is using you, Mary?

Have you created your own HELL (AA) - Mary Christine!!

REPENT!!!

I love you, Mary!!

Do you love me?

I, PATRICK, AM THE LORD'S LIGHT & SALVATION FOR OTHER PEOPLE.</b
