Tuesday

Yesterday I happened to show up at the 6:30 a.m. meeting for my friend Dick's 39th AA birthday.  What a wonderful thing that was!  I didn't know he would be celebrating there.  Most of the people at the meeting said things like "well, I won't live long enough to be sober for 39 years..."  and I kind of felt bad for them.  Dick has been sober over half of his natural life, and every time he shares, he says it just keeps getting better and better.

I am a lucky one who got to AA at 32 beat up and desperate enough to grab onto the program with all I have, and with the help of God, I have not had a drink of alcohol since then.  I have now been sober 43% of my life, and I hope to live a long life, and stay sober for the rest of it.  One day at a time...

It's another busy day today.  I have a quarterly presentation to give next Tuesday, and after that I should get some breathing space.  I need some!

I have an important meeting this afternoon myself. My boss and I will be traveling to Mt. Vernon, Il. I hope it is productive since I will not be able to do my normal work.

MC, I got "in" at age 40, and now been
sober 45% of my whole life! Never thought of it that way. Thanks.

Would make one heck of a math problem: Question, How old is this person now?

When counting the number of years sober during my lifetime, should I count those years before I began drinking? I had 15 sober years to begin my life. Now I have another 5 years. So that gives me 37% of my life as a sober human.
However, if I don't count those first 15 years, I only have 9% sober.

Hey I've been sober 32% of my life...over a 1/4 not a 1/2.
I was 35 when I got sober, and I wore a size 4 - sigh.
Enjoy your Tuesday little pumpking pie.

I suck at math especially percentages. Let's just say, they have been by far the best years of my life! Have a great day!

I go to important meetings 2% of the time. So 98% of the time, I'm not invited to important meetings.
Hmmm..now I wonder what everyone is meeting about.

I've been sober all my life but sane for only a small part of it. I hope to stay sane for the remainder.

He got sober when he was 35 - so he must be 74 now.

39 AA birthdays is a big deal! Whenever I hear of such long term sobriety, I recall going to a man's 50th AA birthday! All I could think of was 'WOW', because he was pretty old then, like almost 90. I got here at 38, and am 44 now. I am terrible at percentages, but am grateful to be alive and sober!
