Preparing for Dental Work

I'm in my pajamas, getting ready for bed. I have a three hour dental procedure to endure tomorrow afternoon. I need to get to bed so that I can get up early and get to work and give a presentation at 11 o'clock and then run out of there and to the dentist.

I don't like it, I don't like having a toothache, which I have had for about a month. I don't want to go tomorrow.

But I am grateful that I am sober - what's that got to do with anything?
  • I can actually show up at my appointed time
  • I have dental insurance because I have a job (the same one for 16 and a half years!)
  • I have a credit card to pay the considerable sum of money the insurance won't cover
  • My daughter is giving me a ride to and from the dentist
  • Then I will have four days off work!!!
So, I will pray that I can focus on the good parts and not so much on the pain.

Good luck. Ugh--I cannot imagine 3 hours of dental work. Hope that you will still be able to enjoy a good meal on Thanksgiving Day. Best to you.

I just got dentures a few months ago because I got tired of those long times in a dentists chair. It got to the point that I either keep paying for and enduring all that or trade for a different reality with dentures.

I think I made the right decision for now. at least since I have gotten used to these new implants.

And of course sober is better!

My sister has been a dental hygienist for many years---she knows what you are going through. Best of luck to you. Hope you can then enjoy a sober Thanksgiving with your family and friends, which is what I wish for all the readers of your blog, whether posters or not.

I hope it goes quickly and efficiently, I pray that the dentist is skilled and expedient, and I pray that the pain is short lived from here on out.

Hope your thanksgiving is awesome and relaxing!

I hope your dentist is as fantastic as mine. I've spent the last 9 months at the dentist getting things fixed, refixed, redone, sedated, extracted, cleaned, filled, rootcanaled... and so on. Some of it was horribly painful and some of it wasn't so bad. The good thing is, it's done!

If the worst price I've got to pay today for neglecting my body during my active addiction, I'm doing pretty good!

The final tooth that has been aching and in pain since February is finally calmed down and usable! I don't know any other way to say it. It's one of the best feelings in the world - to eat without pain that is.

I wish you the best of luck at the dentist today (thank goodness for dental insurance) and Happy Thanksgiving!

I just can't believe they're doing the work the day before Thanksgiving, but thankfully, you have the work to pay off the credit card that pays for the remainder of the dental work that the insurance doesn't pay for. Amen.

Sometimes I think I just write the word "pajamas" to see if some English speaking person will come along and write "pyjamas."

Thanks Mary!

I hope the dental procedure went ok...but I am looking at that knitting! My gosh, 4 needles! What are you making, how do you do that? I am making each kid a scarf and hat...the only real knitting is the scarf. The hat is made on my "Knifty Knitter Loom." LOL I want to be a grown up knitter like you though!

Hi,

Mary Christine...even though your post is 3 years ago. You wonderful...I have major dental work. Dentist said it would take about two years to do it...
I am so grateful that you have listed things to be grateful about when you went to the procedure.
I will now do the same.

Be good to yourself.
