Trash Day

It is garbage pick-up day for my neighborhood. In the Denver metro area (with the exception of Denver proper), trash pick up is something you pay for. My trash removal company picks up on Weds. morning. I am not sure why, but bringing my trash cans out to the curb is something very meaningful to me. But here are some ideas - There is nothing I am ashamed of in the trash, an excess of bottles, cans, etc. I have actually paid my bill, so I am not inching my trash cans towards my neighbors' sidewalks in hopes that it looks like theirs instead of mine. And I actually remember to take my trash out on trash day!

It is just Wednesday. I have an average day planned at work. It is the day before payday, so I am not going out for lunch. I have spent all the money I had intended to spend this month - and more.

"When we developed still more, we discovered the best possible source of emotional stability to be God Himself. We found that dependence upon His perfect justice, forgiveness, and love was healthy, and that it would work where nothing else would. If we really depended upon God, we couldn't very well play God to our fellows nor would we feel the urge wholly to rely on human protetction and care. These were the new attitudes that finally brought many of us an inner strength and peace that could not be deeply shaken by the shortcomings of others or by any calamity not of our own making." -- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 116

I hope your whole day is not trashy. I'm sure it won't be since you've cleaned up your side of the street.

It is just Wednesday. How great to stay under the umbrella of Wednesday--even if I did think it was Tuesday...

I had to walk around the neighbourhood dumping bottles and cans in skips and public waste bins...I was so ashamed at the amount.

Different days for thee and me now though, eh? :-)

Omigosh, I can so relate to the trash thing. The worst was when I'd forget to take it out the night before, and I'd be awakened by the sound of the garbage trucks, and have to scramble around trying to get it out in time for them to pick it up, all with a massive hangover, of course.

I never worried too much about what the sanitation people thought of me, though. As long as I could get those bottles in there without my husband seeing them, that's all I cared about. True insanity.

We don't empty the recycling bin nearly as often when I'm sober (Day 11 here).

That is my fav from step twelve. I remember when it hit me. You know I had probably read it a zillion times and it just did not hit me. When it did I was so excited about this information.

B4 sobriety I never lived anyplace where I was responsible for taking the trash out. I could not get that independent with booze in the blood.

Thanks for the post,
