Blogging at night

I don't think I am particularly good at blogging at night. It seems that every night I sit at the computer and try to dream up something to write about. I tend to have better ideas in the morning. At night I tend to be more riled up about things - lately I am not even riled up about anything. I am just anxious to get to bed. Not sure I can fit blogging into my morning routine with all the working out I am doing - but I may try. I have my iPod set up to be my alarm clock tomorrow - it has a very quiet harp sounding alarm that shan't be too jarring - I hope.

This morning I met with "my personal trainer." That sounds so fancy. In reality she is a woman from my home group who happens to be a personal trainer - a very good one - and is doing me a favor by spending some quality time with me... at a very minimal charge. We have my nutritional plan all set up and I am happy about it - even though it is a 180º change from what I was doing. She is excited about all the other stuff I am doing and thinks I can do a marathon in 2010. I am meeting her at 6 a.m. on Weds. so that she can take me through a weight training routine. Yikes. I still get a big kick out of talking about "my personal trainer," so probably I will continue to do that... even though I probably shouldn't.

This afternoon, I went and purchased some more crap I probably shouldn't have. I had planned on taking a hike tomorrow with a friend so I got some trail runners - see above. I also got a new heart rate monitor so that I can see what the heck my heart rate is when I am not using my garmin.

If I knew I was keeping my job, I wouldn't feel bad about buying these things - which were both on sale and are good things to have. But if I am about to lose my job, these things would suddenly become needless luxuries.... if I only knew which it is....

I am heading north to my old, old homegroup tomorrow morning to an old friend's 24th AA birthday. What a treat that will be. He is someone who once tried to have me thrown out of that group, he didn't like my take on the traditions - like that I cared that we had them.... and imagine, now, oh about 17 years later, I will get up early and drive across town to see him celebrate his birthday. What miracles of recovery occur when we actually practice these principles in all our affairs! We can't see each other today without embracing and telling each other how much we love each other - and we really mean it!

I love the part about AA where God opens your eyes to the miracles around us. It's something we learn to see thanks to experiences shared by people older in recovery. I didn't discover that on my own; I read it on page 417-419 in the BB, and others helped me see with new eyes.
I roam the blog at night, and post in the morning when I am fresh. That might be a solution for you...
I love the story of your daughter's bus ride. My pastor calls stuff like that "divine appointments," set up by a Higher Power who knows exactly when to do what with whom. Now that I know what they're like, I seem to have more than a few every week, which blesses my socks off. I added you to my list of blogs to follow because your take on sobriety is fun and real. Please come visit me. I've been sober since 1990 until 2005, then most of the past four years except a relapse with drugs 18 months ago. I love life in recovery and keep coming back no matter what, because it is the best life I have ever known. Best of wishes with your fitness program. That works best a day at a time too.

I don't know the right time to post - I've been doing it for 5-6 months and it's starting to feel more natural and I'm running out of time, morning and night. It's God's deal - if I'm supposed to write blogs, time will be there...

I hope you find some comfortable time to continue because you're good at it (day or night).

I wish you and your PT great success and joy.

Blessings and aloha...

I set my IPod alarm to the barking dog. I think your quiet harp sound is in my future. My husband didn't think the barking was all that funny.

I am sure you'll really have a grat time Sunday morning celebrating your friends' 24th.

I recently let go of my personal trainer after spending 3 days/week with him for over 2 years. Economic reasons. The things he taught me are invaluable. Now, it's up to me.

I'm lucky one of my best friends is a personal trainer, and we have been together for almost 15 years. She has listened to the saga of Andrew at 5:30am for all these years, all the while making small corrections in my "form." She is a true friend, and a task master.
The thing with a trainer is..you will never work as hard on your own. The body will always look for the easier way (as will the mind, you know that!)
I know what you mean about saying personal trainer, it sounds so elitist. But mine is on the cheap too;)

But you forget MC, you are a "fancy" woman! You are the light that shines on this blog every day. Thanks for the story about your friend. There is hope that the harshest among us will change. J.

When I said harshest, I meant the guy who tried to get you thrown out! Just wanted that to be clear.

Oh Banana Girl, I am clear that I am pretty harsh too.

I think that it is grand that you are going to celebrate his birthday. All of God's miracles are happening if we just let ourselves be receptive to them.
