Update

I am fortunate to have a great sponsor.  She is eleven years older than me.  She is sober eleven years longer than me.  She has had health problems.  She has had heart problems.

So, when I called her today, she knew what I was talking about.  She didn't sidestep it or try to make it sound "nice."

I probably won't write much about this because I am tired of being criticized.  I don't want to be criticized for feeling as vulnerable as I have in recent years at a minimum - maybe ever.

I don't feel very well.  I don't know whether it is lingering effects of the ativan I had last night or not.  I guess I will know tomorrow.  I will know more on Monday morning when I see my primary care physician.

I am now going to get in my car and drive through a blizzard (complete with thunder and lightening) to pick up my daughter at 5.  I am extremely grateful that she will be spending the weekend with me.

Oh, Mary. I am grateful you have the sponsor you do. I am glad your daughter is spending the weekend with you, too.
Hugs across the miles.

I can't imagine any reason for criticism.

But - and this is just the way I feel about it - "shame on anyone who criticizes".

Please take special care of yourself till your doctor sees you on Monday.

Sending prayers your way,
Prayer Girl

I am glad that you live in a progressive city with excellent medical care.
I am glad that you take your health (mental & physical) seriously.
I am glad that you know how to take action and not hide your head under the covers.
I am glad your daughter will be there all weekend to talk with and hang.

Dear Mary, your daughter is with you at home now. Doctor will see you Monday. Heart testing appeared to be OK for now. People all over the blogs are praying you are recovered from whatever sent you in to the hospital. Not much more can be done, except...wait a minute! I could pray for you, too! OK!

I am so glad you seek medical help, right away for something like chest pain. Timing is often critical. I tend to 'wait and see' which I know is begging for (someday) big trouble.

I will try and learn from your example. Funny, how all around me people teach me these practical ways of behavior, but the lesson which clicks is one which comes from a blog-friend in Colorado.

Hmmm - criticized for feeling? Interesting concept considering I was always criticized when drinking alcohol - for NOT feeling or for not feeling right (in someone else's mind). I get to AA and after a short while they told me I was supposed to FEEL! I wasn't escaping my feelings any longer... and it was a good thing to feel.

MC, each time in the last few years as I prepare for my chest x-rays I feel scared silly. Yep - vulnerable is the right word. Vulnerable to my end. I even prepare to meet my maker who I've discovered ain't such a bad guy after all. (a little sarcasm there)

Each time I get the results and they're still negative - I'm happy out of my wits! Now, that is what my hope for you is...

Please don't forget (I know you won't) that your God loves you more than you can imagine - no matter what!
