My Guy!

Won American Idol!!!
And I hardly even helped!  I voted for about an hour and a half last night and probably only got through maybe 10 times.

Why do I like him so much and what has this got to do with anything?

Well, I will be honest... he is very very cute.  He is also very talented.  I like his style - a lot.

What I like most though?  His humility.  He stood tonight - utterly shocked that he won.  It was not an act.

We learn in AA that we have to be humble.  And then it feels sometimes like the world kicks us down for that... but we have to do it anyway.  I cannot be a jackass at work and talk about how great I am.  I can stand up for myself when I need to, but I can't act arrogant like other people can, because the price I may end up paying is my life.  This road gets very very narrow.   My career may have suffered, but my soul is mostly intact, and that is what I need to worry about.

So, on American Idol, the judges didn't think Kris could win because of his lack of bravado- but he did.  His music is good.  And I like the kid.  I love the fact that his wife, his mom and his dad are there at every show.  I believe Kris is To Thine Own Self Be(ing) True.  And I love that.

And I love that he won.

I have to admit that I may be the only weirdo on the planet that has not been following American Idol, but I am glad that your guy won. Thanks for the lesson in humility this morning. I need reminders of that every now and then.

He is too cute to lose.

I actually thought of you when I heard he won, knowing how close the 2 of you are.

It's good when our guy wins.

I am with Gin in that I do not watch that show. All that hype drives me a little bonkers.

Kris is good and will be very successful. I tried to vote (for Adam..hehe) but never could get through. There were only 100,000,000 votes cast though. Imagine if that many people went to the voting booth every time there was an election. That would be awesome.

Hey MC..I thought of you too and that was me on yesterday's post shouting Kris! Cause frankly, not too many of my friends are following it..my husband was just grateful it was the finale so he didn't have to watch anymore. (BTW: How can he be your guy when he is mine?) I like Kris for the same reasons and I like his style..he and Keith Urban were amazing. They just made me smile and feel happy. Adam is good too and he makes you say WOW but Kiss is not my style but he was certainly in his element. And he's good and I thought humble and gracious as well..well as humble as a guy with eyeliner, metal shoulder pads and 6 inch platforms can be. He's a performer. Kris is a singer. It was a fun season to watch and the finale was well done. I'm really glad Kris won too. And is it just me but isn't he even cuter when you can catch him dancing..though they didn't show him so much. I'll shut up now:) xo

Scott, I never watched the show until my son was in Iraq and I was grasping at straws for anything to watch other than the news. American Idol fit the bill and I fell in love with the drama of it all.

Trailboss, If you could cast more than one vote in an election, I am sure there would be 100,000,000 votes. But you can only vote once... unlike American Idol.

I am a weirdo too like Gin. I have never watched the show. But I'm thinking that if you liked this guy, he must be good.

I thought of you first thing when Kris won. I imagined you jumping up and down and celebrating. I was happy for you and Kris.

I'm glad for you that your guy won...

Also glad that we get to know the distinction between humility and humiliation today...

MC, I heard this this morning and thought of you and how happy you would be. I was not wrong. Also, did you know that this young fellow is a worship leader at his church? Perhaps the humility is like happiness for all of us: a byproduct of the action in our lives. Have a blessed day! J.

Like many parties I have tried to attend over years, this party was long over when I arrived Friday afternoon at 2:30 PM.

Yep, home again, so naturally, couldn't WAIT to find out who won. By The Way, what are we talking about, Kentucky Derby? I seem to have forgot -grin!

Actually, Mary, congratulations on your "boy-toy" winning. He really--finally--deserved it!

He is SO NOT a boy-toy. He is a young married man, who is a prayer leader at his church and has done many foreign missions.

Excuse me, I didn't mean to be offensive...just a little humor. Not good to do (humor) when living on four hours' sleep, I guess.

Maybe I'm just a Hmmmm.."sensitive" alcoholic? Heaven forbid -grin!

I should be emailing this instead of public, I guess. Oh well.....

Wait. What? said...

Congrats on the win - for you and your guy!
