Happy 75th Birthday Alcoholics Anonymous

"On the way to City Hospital on the east side of town, Dr. Bob held out his hand from time to time to see whether the shakes had subsided. Just before they stopped, Bill, who also had his practical side, gave him a bottle of beer....

Although arguments have been and will be made for other significant occasions in AA history, it is generally agreed that Alcoholics Anonymous began there, in Akron, on that date: June 10, 1935." -- Dr. Bob and the Good Oldtimers, p. 75

I bet it would have been a wonderous and slightly eery day at Stepping Stones. Imagine, 75 years ago...we celebrated the fact in my wonderful homegroup last night.

There are no words that can express my gratitude for AA and what has happened to me as a result of becoming an active member of this fellowship.

I was reading through the forwards with a sponsee this week (yes, I have a sponsee now, geesh!) and we were discussing how before AA came along there was NO solution for alcoholism...it was death, loony bins or the streets...no hope at all. I am so grateful to this program.
