Comment Moderation

I apologize to all but one... I have enabled "comment moderation". Our sexually abused, orphaned, bipolar disordered (manic phase), hyperreligious, delusional friend from down unda has crossed the line and I cannot have this stuff polluting my blog.

I am a Roman Catholic woman, my faith means more to me than anything. To distort the face and words of Jesus Christ to make a point about your loathing of AA is just more than I can bear.

I turn on electric lights every day. This does not mean I am "idol worshiping" Thomas Alva Edison. I just use what God enabled him to discover, or invent. I don't even think about it, and I certainly don't need to figure out what his beliefs were. I am thankful that God gave us intellect and we have been able to do many things with it.

I am a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous. I do not worship Bill Wilson. I just use what God enabled him to discover, or invent. I don't need to pick Bill Wilson apart. I thank God that he put Bill and Bob together when he did and they were able to find a way to recover from a "seemingly hopeless state of mind and body." Then they passed that on to others and now we have approximately 2 million recovering alcoholics.

Alcoholics Anonymous does not ever enter into religious debate. That does not mean its members are not religious. Many of us are deeply religious. But we of Alcoholics Anonymous are free to find our own paths. We are not the arbiters of anyone's religiosity or spirituality.

I know as I write this that I should not post it, but I will post it. I am a human being. I have been wounded by these cruel and idiotic comments on my blog. To cloak your hatred in supposed Christianity is so incredibly hurtful to me and gives us all a big fat black eye.

"Judge not, that you not be judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get." Matthew 7:1-2"

Thank you for commenting on this so eloquently. And thanks for being the strong woman you are.

Of course, I agree with you.
Mickey (and those like him) is the very reason I am anti-religous. I will NEVER have anything to do with his God. He is all about HATE rather than love and tolerance.
You and your program, however, give me hope.

God blesses me every day through you and your profound faith is to be championed. He has left this diatribe on my site too and I have prayed for his sick sick soul. Such a dark burden for a person to carry. Spiritual progress for some just takes time and willingness. To follow the example of Christ is clearly not in his formula at this point. Sad.....Have a wonderful day!

I had turned my back on God, never intending on having anything to with a Higher Power again. AA showed me that I was wrong, that I could have a relationship with a kind, compassionate God. That I no longer had to believe or fear the big stick would come swinging out of the clouds to strike me down.

I am sober and clean today because of my new relationship and understanding of God. I am very grateful. There is no better place for me than to be within God's hands.

Thank you for your comments.

Thanks for posting this MC. I had to enable comment moderation as well so as not to subject the blog world with his hate. Just means we don't get the instant gratification of seeing our brilliant comments in print:) I have gratefully learned through AA not to hold organized religion in contempt as I used to do. I now understand that is God as they understand Him and it is helping me to understand why people need dogma. I understand Him differently. I fear that Mickey does not understand Him at all.

Thank you for posting this comment, and doing so with compassion in your heart. I too have meet the infamous fanatic, and all I can do is pray for him. He's in a very dark place, and maybe a prayer for him can help.

A friend early in sobriety shared this with me, and it made sense - "Religion is for those afraid of going to hell, and Spirituality is for those who have already been there." It made a lot of sense cuz I always thought everyone in my church was a hypocrite, I've learned differently today.

Thanks so much for continuing to share. Love Ya, YamaDog Girl

I'm sorry he has hurt you darlin', but I am so glad that you found your voice thru it. You stated your case with conviction eloquently. Good for you for standing up and saying what you believe.

I know you made the right choice, Mary Christine. It's sad, but it became necessary.

"Though we did not like their symptoms and the way these disturbed us, they, like ourselves, were sick too. We asked God to help us show them the same tolerance, pity, and patience that we would cheerfully grant a sick friend. When a person offended we said to ourselves, 'This is a sick man. How can I be helpful to him? God save me from being angry. Thy will be done.'

"We avoid retaliation or argument. We wouldn't treat sick people that way. If we do, we destroy our chance of being helpful. We cannot be helpful to all people, but at least God will show us how to take a kindly and tolerant view of each and every one."
- Big Book p. 67

Thank you for this blog entry. Now I know I'm not the only one to be harassed by this person! I also had to enable comment moderation on my blog due to his crude and inappropriate comments.

After reading some of this person's blog -- I don't think he acts completely out of hate. There is some pretty serious mental illness going on with him. It's really sad.

But I hope that he gets better -- for his own sake and for everyone else's too. When practiced as written, his religion shows God's love and grace. That message is beneficial for everyone.

I think that we've all been visited by a person who is ill. He doesn't represent a messenger of God to me. He carries his own message but it isn't God's message. Thanks for your faith and beliefs. You carry a true spiritual message.
