Cockroach

They say the cockroach will still be roaming the earth, long after evolved life has done itself in. Not so sure I believe that. But I do often feel like a cockroach in that I keep doing things long after everyone else quits or dies.

This morning I am heading out to the 6:30 meeting.  I am meeting a sponsee there.  We have been meeting there for a couple of years.  Years and years ago, I used to meet MY sponsor at the 6:30 a.m. Wednesday meeting.  I have been meeting SOMEBODY every Wednesday morning for a long time.

After the meeting, I will head to work, just like I have for the last 14.5 years.  Same roads, same parking lot, same door, same stairs.

I will pull my bowl of plain nonfat yogurt with a cup of blueberries out of my bag, and get the Uncle Sam Cereal out of my bottom desk drawer, and eat my breakfast... just as I do each M-F.

I could go on and on throughout my day, but I am sure you get the idea.  But you might have gotten the WRONG idea.

I am so grateful that I get to do the same things over and over.  I am grateful that I am consistent.  I am grateful that I can be counted upon.  I am grateful that I have been able to maintain the same job, house, meeting, friends, etc.  for a while now.

Every night when my head hits the pillow, I thank God.  And every morning when my feet hit the floor, I thank God.

It's a good thing.

Because la cucharacha has survived as long as it has is the reason it is said they will be the last survivors. The cockroach, and Cher.

A cockroach can live a week without its head and once the female is gets pregnant she stays pregnant for the rest of her life. Gross.

WTF! I have lived 65 YEARS without MY head. Ask anyone who knows me.

By the way, what do the letters "WTF" stand for? I mean--I'm hoping it's something like "Wonderful Thoughts Forming"????????

My fear of roaches is as strong as your fear of dogs. I'll say no more on that.
I too have had the same Wednesday routine for many years except at night instead of the morning.
I went to a friends Birthday Night last night. She had 27 years. We met for dinner first and I told her how grateful I was to have known someone for my entire sobriety (we met at my very first meeting). I never had friends for that many years before because I always used them up or ran them off.

After what Scott wrote, I will have to find another life's mascot than the cockroach.
I also love my routines. When there's too much drama and change in my life these days (and sometimes there is), I sort of pine for the ant-promise in the big book of where I could be "...stupid, boring and glum..."
But then, I realize, I'm right where I should be.
And not a cockroach...
Blessings & aloha.

So, what do you know about being pregnant? Silly man.

It is good that you are consistant and counted on. A coworker and I were talking about the same thing just this morning. His nephew (worked here where we do) is being fired because he didn't show up for work for 2 days. He was about to get a $2 on the hour raise too. I just don't get people.

I was consistent when I was drinking. I'm glad you're consistent sober. I know there's hope for me yet.

At first, I thought that those were fake roaches. Someone once put a fake rubbery one in my bowl of cereal. It was an April Fool's joke. Have a great consistent day, MC.

My son told me compared to his friends our house is boring. Today I take this as a compliment. Thanks for being MC

Oh! Happy April Fools Day!
