The Hand of God

My friend and I walked away from that crash yesterday.  He lost control of the car on a mountain pass and hit a wall at a pretty high rate of speed.  I do not know how we didn't get killed.... well, yes I do actually.   The seat belts and airbags were very important, but I feel like there was divine intervention involved.  Everyone who came upon the scene was looking for victims laying along the side of the road - but my friend and I were standing up, talking, hugging, and thanking God for his mercy.

As you might imagine, we both have got some bruises, but they are pretty insignificant.  The car is totalled.  And it was pretty little Camaro.

The people who stopped to help us were incredible.  It really restores your faith in humanity.  A woman who was a witness stayed with us for the several hours until we left in the tow truck.  She got blankets out of her car for us to sit on, and a couple of diet squirts!  An off duty EMT stopped and evaluated us before the on-duty EMTs got there.  They get right in your face to evaluate you, and I couldn't help but think - over and over and over - thank God there is no booze to be smelled, no dope to be disposed of.   No attitudes to deal with.

Life is so different when you are clean and sober and trying to live right.  I don't believe that nothing bad will ever happen again - see photo for evidence.  But I do believe that things are very different when you aren't drunk or high or being a jerk.   I feel so loved by God, I just can't adequately convey that right now.

I kept telling my friend that through the whole experience something was running through my mind.  It is my favorite reading out the the Twenty-Four Hours a Day book.  It is the July 16 reading:

"We can believe that God is in his heaven and He has a purpose for our lives, which will eventually work out as long as we try to live the way we believe He wants us to live.  It has been said that we should 'wear the world like a loose garment.'  That means that nothing should seriously upset us because we have a deep, abiding faith that God will always take care of us.  To us that means not to be too upset by the surface wrongness of things, but to feel deeply secure in the fundamental goodness and purpose in the universe."

OMG MARY !!!
I hope you are resting, or staying in the bed or something. Mary..little rosebud-please be easy on your body while it is healing.
Girl-if something happened to you, how would we know? That holds true for the rest of us too.

Loose garment, yes. Loose seat belt, no!

I have wondered, like Pam said, what happens when something happens to a blogger. No one has their password probably. Today I will send that info to my sister, just in case.

God's grace in our lives is so evident when we live with the goal to do the Divine Will. I used to be blind to that, now I am grateful to be shown every day.

I am really, really, really, really, really glad you are okay.

I'm really smiling because you're OK. Car accidents are something most of us never forget. There's a reason you came out the way you did.

Pam makes a good point for most of us bloggers. Of course, us Lambda people know each other, but can we rectify the overall situation?

So glad you are OK MC. I have been reading that passage every day since the 15th. It is really wierd, for some reason , I read it on the 15th by mistake, and it was exactly what I needed to read that day. It was not until later when with a friend when I went to re-read it that I realized I had read the wrong day. I have made it part of my daily prayers.

Was not expecting this! Like Pam said the soreness often comes later,so be gentle on yourself.

Good to hear that people helped.I truly believe in the overall good of people. And always great to be reminded that God has a purpose for us. Perfect quote.

I am so glad you are ok MC. I can only imagine how bad it 'could' have been. Pam posed a good question. I have sent my blog info to So and he has sent me his just in case. It is true that we never know when God will take us home.

Be save, I know you are already grateful as we all are.

MC, as I spend more days blogging with you all, and you let me peek into your lives as well, I'm beginning to think like Pam wrote (above). And a large chunk of my heart (and my day) would be missing without youse guys.

Also, MC, you write: "I feel so loved by God, I just can't adequately convey that right now."
--well, I think you just DID-grin-.

I (and others!) certainly thank our God you and your friend were not more seriously injured--or worse. I'm going to kneel down this instant.

I am thanking God as well for you and your friends safety during this crash. Where were you? Mount Evans? Rocky Mtn Nat'l? I hate the Mount Evans road. I will drive it only under the duress of visitors who have never been and then I would like them to hold all other traffic until I have gone up and come back down. Hugs,
Jeanne

Hard to believe, but you were right where God wanted you at that time. Who knows why? But, as you said, He has a purpose and a call on your life that is going out not only among the witnesses of the accident but by the words you share of your grateful and faithful relationship with Him.

You're a great testimony to what God does and will do everyday!

Really glad you're both okay!

I'm so glad that you are okay. You are really touched by God's hand. I'm sure that he held you and your friend as the accident happened. Take it easy my friend because none of us wants anything to happen to you.
